Selection of wood

Colour, design, physical characteristics, stress grading, various thicknesses and sawing methods are important choices which contribute to the quality and beauty of your final product.

The wood is sourced from local sawmills which offer a wide selection and great flexibility

INTERIOR (Native) Hardwoods

Preferably Spanhout makes use of native hardwoods. When a long lifespan is desirable for outdoor use, the best options is to employ durability class 1 or 2.  FCS certified tropical hardwoods are used only for projects which require the most out of the timber, or when a specific look cannot be accomplished by using native hardwoods.
